Cooling Tower Cleaning
A cooling tower is used to cool warm water from a chiller in a facility. The tower is filled with slats where the warm water flows over. These slats increase the surface area of the water, which helps to cool the water, while some evaporate into the atmosphere. The cool water is then collected at the bottom of the tower and pumped back into the chiller where it will help absorb heat again.
Over time scaling within the cooling tower can occur, which can reduce the operability of the cooling system. The scaling and particulates can clog the pumps, rob the cooling tower of heat exchange efficiency and drive up energy costs. The water can also become a breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to Legionnaires’ Disease. This is why it is so important to have your cooling towers tested and cleaned on a regular basis.
